The Prince and Princess of Wales are "keen" for Prince George to play a role in the Coronation but want it to be "low-key", a royal expert has claimed.
Although it will be his grandfather King Charles and Queen Camilla being crowned on May 6, it is believed that other royals will be involved in the ceremony.
It is also believed that Camilla's five grandchildren will take part in the service - and that Charles is keen for George, as a future King, to also be involved.
But knowing how much scrutiny this could put the nine-year-old under, it is believed that William and Kate would prefer George's role will be small.
And the Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkhah told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat: "They are very keen, but if George does have an official role, it will be quite low-key.
"They are very conscious that he will return to school on the Tuesday [after the coronation], and they do not want him to be overwhelmed by the attention. But he may play a smaller official role.
"I do not know in terms of what the grandchildren will do for the King. I was told it was very much the grandchildren who were there to help and attend to Camilla."
If he does take part in the ceremony, it would be a break from tradition as during the past two ceremonies, young heirs (Charles and Elizabeth II) did not take part and watched from the congregation.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph reports that among those in the congregation will also be William and Kate's younger children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who will be spectators.
Historian Dr Tessa Dunlop previously told the Mirror history points to the children also being seen in their finery alongside the adults at the Coronation.
She said: "George alongside siblings Charlotte and Louis will be a big visual pull at the coronation – just as Prince Charles was at his mother's.
"Expect Charlotte in a dainty coronet [small crown] - perhaps even the one the late Queen wore to her father's coronation aged 10 - and the two brothers in frock coats and breeches.
"Kate loves dressing up her children, so objections are unlikely. And the money shot everyone will want is a snap of the three siblings in their finery alongside the King and the Queen on Buckingham Palace balcony after the service."
The final guest list and the roles all the royals will play at the Coronation are yet to be confirmed.
