Will Zalatoris has had a fast start to his career out on Tour, shooting up the world golf rankings. His play in Major Championships in particular has been stellar, coming close to winning at the 2022 PGA Championship and 2021 Masters. With a lot of near misses, he finally got into the winner's circle at the 2022 FedEx St Jude Championship.
Since making his return after undergoing back surgery, he has made a change to his driver. Here's the latest on what Titleist player Zalatoris appears to have settled on for the 2024 season.
Driver
What Driver Does Will Zalatoris Use?
Zalatoris has a full bag of Titleist gear, with his driver of choice the TSR2 model (9°), which is one of the best golf drivers 2024 that you will find on the market. A classic-looking driver, it delivers impressively fast ball speeds. The consistency of flight and distance comes from a generous 460cc clubhead, one that we'd say is one of the most aspirational you'll find.
Interestingly, Zalatoris has revealed how he has returned to a 44.5-inch shaft (Fujikura Ventus TR Black 7 X), trading some distance off the tee with improved accuracy.
"I would love to go back to that 46, just to add another 12, 15 yards, but I never really was that great with hitting fairways, and so far, so good with hitting fairways," he said of the change. "In reality, even though I'm losing distance, I'm hitting more fairways, so I'm kind of netting everything out."
Fairway Woods
What Fairway Wood Does Will Zalatoris Use?
Staying at the top end of the bag, Zalatoris plays a Titleist TSi2 fairway wood, a model that we love, for it's both long and easy to launch. It has a compact head, which is something that some golfers may be intimidated by; it's clearly a shape that Zalatoris likes for it's been in the bag for some time.
Zalatoris' fairway has 15° of loft and is fitted with a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 8 X shaft.
Irons
What Irons Does Will Zalatoris Use?
Zalatoris' Titleist irons are very easy on the eye. He carries a Titleist T350 (3) and Titleist T150 irons (4-PW). The 3-iron is fitted with a Nippon N.S. Pro Prototype Graphite on Steel Technology Prototype Hybrid 10 ST X shaft, and the 4-PW with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts.
The T350 is a super stable premium game improvement iron that offers notable distance gains over its predecessor via improved feel, forgiveness and flight; it's a club that offers Zalatoris another option off the tee, perhaps when it's imperative that he finds the fairway. You'll find these clubs on our list of the best game improvement irons.
The Titleist T150 irons are a popular model with better players. For the accomplished ball strikers who just want more help on approach shots without sacrificing feel or consistency, it’s a compelling option. This is a model that we've added to the best irons for low handicappers.
Wedges
What Wedges Does Will Zalatoris Use?
Quite a few Tour players will stick to a certain model of wedge and not tinker too much with the bottom end of their bag. Zalatoris on the other hand has Vokey's latest model - the Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges (50-08F, 54-10S @55, 60-04T), which have the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft.
Subtle yet effective changes have been made to the Vokey SM10 wedge over the previous model, such as higher spin and lower launch plus longer groove life and improved feel. Vokey wedges have been a popular model for many a year with club golfers and Tour pros alike, and they feature on our list of the best golf wedges.
It appears as though Zalatoris has his wedges personalised with his initials. In the past, he got Happy Gilmore related stampings because of how much he looks like a character from the movie. We're not sure if this is still the case.
Putter
What Putter Does Will Zalatoris Use?
Zalatoris has his own way of putting, and a stroke that has drawn a lot of criticism in the past. He has admitted that it's not the best-looking or the most effective stroke at times, but it's an area of the game where he does appear to be making progress.
That's perhaps a discussion for elsewhere - so far as the model that he uses, that'll be the L.A.B. Golf Mezz. 1 Max, which has a Golf Pride Z-Grip Cord. Adam Scott and Lucas Glover also use this model, and Zalatoris has spoken of how much he loves his broomstick putter, as it helps to take his hands out of the stroke.
The Mezz. 1 Max is not one that we have tested yet, but we did try the brand's DF3 putter, and we found it a pleasure to use. Zalatoris could well be quite dangerous on the greens in 2024 now that he seems to be free of injuries.
Ball
What Golf Ball Does Will Zalatoris Use?
The American plays a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball. The latest iteration delivers in all areas of the game, and is undoubtedly one of the best premium golf balls on the market. During testing, we noticed a jump in ball speed off the tee which, combined with a strong flight, offered superb distance. That this didn’t come at the cost of short game control was a big win.
Apparel/Shoes
What Shoes Does Will Zalatoris Wear?
Zalatoris wears FootJoy clothing and Premiere Series Packard shoes. The shoe is inspired by Frederick Packard, FootJoy’s founder and a shoe pioneer who drove the adoption of many modern manufacturing and design innovations that are still used today. He occasionally wears the Field design, too.
