Will Young strips off on stage to Y-fronts after leather trousers become too hot

Will Young stunned fans as he stripped off to just his Y-fronts when he performed at Kew the Music last night in the scenic Kew Gardens on Friday night.

With the 27 degree heat getting to the 43-year-old singer, Will opted to remove his leather trousers and carried on his performance in just his boxers.

The Pop Idol star showed off exactly what he's working with as he faced the crowd wearing just tight white briefs - a stark contrast to the black leather pants he had previously donned.

Fans were surprised by the move, but a lot of them understood with them admitting that the weather was quite warm, especially for leather trousers.

One fan wrote: "Absolute blast seeing Will Young tonight at Kew Gardens. Boy was in pleather trews on a 27°C night - got hot, took 'em off. I get it."

While a second penned: "@willyoung wow [heart eyes emoji] [stunned emoji] thanks Will and band for a superb night of music @kewgardens even treated to the full VIP package [eggplant emoji] deal down on the front row [laughing emojis] #ballonsandballs".

Kew the Music continues this week at Kew Gardens with Bananarama, Gabrielle, Rebecca Ferguson tonight and Gipsy Kings on Sunday.

Will first found fame on Pop Idol (PA)

Will recently made headlines when he admitted he was proud of himself for standing up to Simon Cowell, who he dubbed a 'bully'.

Over twenty years on from his Pop Idol win, he confessed he was proud of himself for standing up to the notoriously hard to please judge.

Speaking to PinkNews., he said: "From the first time I stood up to a bullying Simon Cowell as a judge, I feel it's a responsibility if people who don't have a voice can't shine a light on certain things that I do so.

"It's very fulfilling and I get a lot of pleasure from it. We all have times when we need to stand up for ourselves."

He looked back on his formal education, continuing: "I had a politics degree, I used to go on protests, I was very much not keen on seeing people being abused in any form.

"And so really it wasn’t just for me when I spoke up, it was for all the other people that he had been horrible to.

"People who are bullies, they’re only as powerful as the power you give them, and he didn’t have any power over me so I didn’t give a s**t."
