This May 4 will see local elections taking place across the country, with 33 seats up for grabs at Manchester City Council.
This election will see 143 candidates competing for the seats across the city's 32 wards, as well as one extra seat going in Ardwick following the retirement of a councillor.
But some areas have seen elements of voting apathy set in, with new requirements regarding voter ID also providing a barrier to some. With this in mind, we want to know your thoughts about voting in the upcoming local election.

Following resident in Fallowfield - which saw only a 15.22 percent turnout last year - expressing doubts over voting in the upcoming election, readers have responded with contrasting thoughts, with one saying: "If you don't vote don't complain about any issues."
However, many people weren't shocked to see voter apathy, with one reader responding: "I'm surprised there are suburbs where people think that there is a point in voting."
Another shared their frustrations on the current state of politics, saying: "Yes people should vote. But when frankly nothing is done by politicians regardless of party then I fully understand why people can’t be bothered to vote."
There was also anger voiced at the new voter ID system, with one reader commenting: "People will vote with their feet, I predict a very low turnout based on the stupid ID requirement. Not enough people vote already so why put obstacles in the way, I carry ID but won’t be voting on principle."
