The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) went from Texas to the world when Netflix released its docuseries, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders last month.
The seven-part series took viewers through the audition process and training camp for dancers hoping to make the NFL’s most prestigious cheer squad. We watched as director Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell narrowed prospects down to a team of 36, with plenty of tears and triumphs along the way.
America’s Sweethearts ended with the closure of the NFL season, seeing the retirement of some of the show’s key cast members from the troupe. However, several cheerleaders also expressed their desire to return to the team in 2024—and with another round of try-outs and inevitable DCC drama, we can’t help but wonder if a second season might be in the works, too.
Scroll on for everything we know about a potential season two of the America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders docuseries so far.
Will There Be A Season Two Of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?
Considering the show’s overwhelming popularity, a season two seemed inevitable and we were right with confirmation finally coming via the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders themselves.
In a post to their Twitter account, the team did what they do best: cheer. The clip shows the cheerleaders performing a routine in their famous locker room before they drop their pom poms on the floor in the shape on a ‘2’ and chant “DCC season two.”
“Start stretching and get your high kick ready because AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS: DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS is coming back to Netflix for season 2!!!” the caption reads.
In June, the Dallas Cowboys released a statement on its website sharing their hopes for renewal. The organisation wrote, “While plans are currently undetermined for a second season, the Dallas Cowboys are excited to see the response from the world in the early stages of the show’s release in anticipation of hopefully signing on for more seasons.”
Director Greg Whiteley also offered some cryptic comments in an interview with Variety.
“Our last two or three weeks of filming, we were just starting to hit our stride,” Whiteley told the publication. “Part of it is the stakes are higher when you’re at a place like The Star, where it is the most financially lucrative, valuable sports franchise in all the world.”
The director added, “They have plenty at stake and that breeds a certain culture that’s very buttoned down and can sometimes bump up against a documentary film crew trying to pierce that. I felt like we were just starting to get there as we were wrapping up, and I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”
Who Would Be In Season Two Of The DCC Docuseries?
If America’s Sweethearts were to get a season two, its cast would depend on who makes the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad during the season it’s filmed. Fortunately, we officially know who made the squad in 2024.
You will see some fan favourites return, including Charly Barby and Reece Weaver—much to our joy! Anna Kate, Kelly Villares (yes!) and others are also returning.

When Will Season Two Of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Be Released?
Now we have an official confirmation for season two, you’re probably wondering when it will be released.
While we don’t have an exact date yet, Netflix confirmed that “season 2 will chronicle the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders from nerve-wracking auditions and grueling training camp all the way through the high-energy NFL 2024–25 season.”
Given the 2024-25 NFL season will come to a close with the Superbowl in February, 2025, fans could very well see the season drop early next year. Stay tuned.
