The worst-kept “secret” contestants, Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh, could be set to join I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here earlier than originally planned following Olivia Attwood’s shock exit.
The ITV show was thrown into chaos on Monday when former Love Island star Attwood was forced to quit on undisclosed medical grounds.
Addressing her departure during last night’s show, presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly explained: “Unfortunately, Olivia has left the jungle for medical reasons. She does feature on tonight’s show but we’re very sad to see her go but we wish her well.”
Medics ruled it would not be “safe” for Attwood to remain in the jungle and she is thought to be arriving back in the UK today to be consoled by her footballer fiancé Bradley Dack after being pictured at Brisbane airport on Monday.
It is unclear the exact reason for her exit, but a statement posted on her Instagram account teased: “You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course.”
Attwood was one of 10 celebrities who was seen arriving in the jungle on Sunday (November 6).
This year’s opening show pulled in 9.1 million viewers, with a peak audience of 10.3 million.
ITV confirmed Attwood would not be replaced by a stand-in celebrity, but it is expected that late arrivals Walsh and Hancock could be brought in earlier than planned as a result.
The Standard contacted a representative for the show, who denies this is the case, however, stating: “The timeline for our late entries’ on-screen appearance has not changed or moved forward.”
