Will Smith leaves fans puzzled as they say he looks 'unrecognisable' on The One Show

Will Smith has been dubbed "unrecognisable" by fans as he appeared on The One Show.

The Hollywood actor appeared on the BBC One show on Wednesday night to promote his new movie King Richard - which follows the story of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams' father Richard.

But whilst he was chatting to Zoe Ball and Jermaine Jennas about the new film, viewers at home found themselves more distracted by Will's new look.

During his interview, he explained: "This is a film that - we all have some vision of Richard Williams doing something in a video clip that we all thought looked crazy. This film really dives into the mind and the man and the heart behind the madness.

Will Smith looked very different on The One Show (BBC)

"Richard Williams is a very difficult, a very complicated character but this is a film about family, about faith and it's a film about big dreams. You'd have to be a Grinch to walk out of this film and not be inspired."

However, fans were more taken aback by his different look and they took to social media to share their opinions.

"Will Smith doesn't look like Will Smith," one wrote.

Another added: "What's up with Will Smith's face??"

"What is going on with Will Smith on The One Show, he looks odd," a third wrote, with a fourth adding on Twitter : "Will Smith looks different and I'm not sure why or how?"

Will also explained how Venus and Serena Williams were "a little hesitant" about putting their name to the movie at first.

"Venus and Serena when the idea came up they were a little hesitant, and they said they would executive produce the film but would wait until they saw the movie until they decided to put their names on it," he explained.

He continued: "But they were so honoured, they agreed to put their names on the film.

"And when you make a movie like this there really is only one audience, and it's the people you are depicting. And when they walked out of that theatre and agreed to put their names on this movie, it was one of the highest points in my career."

Will has been showing off his amazing weight loss, having dropped the 15kg he put on during lockdown.

"I'm 15 kilos down from that time. I put on weight for the role then Covid hit so I had to hold that weight for another four months. I held it and then it was Covid, so I added a little something. I added a couple of cookies to it," he said.
