Will Smith and Chris Rock viral meme given Irish twist by comedian

It's fair to say that there's only one thing anyone can really remember about this year's Oscars on Sunday.

Millions around the world as left stunned as Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock during the live Oscars ceremony after the presenter made a joke about Smith's wife Jada.

Well, it didn't take long for the jokes to start - and with that now-infamous slap - another internet meme was born forever.

The latest comedian to wade into this week's drama is Stevo Timothy, AKA Farmer Michael, with a joke only people from across Ireland will truly appreciate.

The Galway funnyman put a decidedly Irish spin on it, with the meme being Will Smith's reaction to Chris Rock calling the county of Derry 'Londonderry'.

The image has gone viral across the internet over the last four days to demonstrate different debates and arguments between groups of people - from the personal to the political.

The Galway comedian also took the opportunity to promote his upcoming tour dates in Derry, where he will be playing at the Millenium Forum in May.

Meanwhile, Mr Smith later issued a public apology to Chris Rock after he stormed up on stage and slapped the Oscar's host around the face.

The actor - who won an award for Best Actor and Best Picture at the 94th Academy Awards - said a a joke about Jada’s medical condition was "too much" for him bear - but that violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.

"There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," he added.
