In the fourth quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, star Patrick Mahomes sustained an ankle injury after a brutal hit.
He struggled to get to the sidelines without assistance, and was subsequently benched in favor of veteran backup Carson Wentz, who finished out the game under center for the Chiefs.

Mahomes is dealing with a sprained ankle but was a full participant in the Chiefs’ practice session on Tuesday.
How long will Patrick Mahomes be out?
Mahomes has not been ruled out for Saturday’s game, and has stated he plans to use Kansas City’s remaining practice sessions this week to prepare and make an ultimate determination of his game status.
Mahomes shared the following at one of the Chiefs’ press conferences this week:
“We’re trying to win the football game and I’m a competitor. I want to go out there and play, so I’ll push myself to get to the best place possible over these next few days and we’ll be able to make a decision then.”
