Will LeBron James be traded by the Lakers next after the Luka Doncic stunner?

Full disclosure: I am the farthest thing from an NBA insider. So I know nothing.

Here’s what I do know after that stunner of a Lakers and Mavericks trade: from an on-the-court basketball perspective, LeBron James and Luka Doncic don’t seem to be the kind of fit you’d want them to be.

Both of them need the ball in their hands to thrive. Defensively, there are issues. And so on.

So we’re all wondering if the Los Angeles Lakers turn around and trade LeBron. Miami in a Jimmy Butler deal? The Warriors in a trade that would give the Lakers some serious depth?

The thing is, James holds all the cards. He has one of those rare NBA no-trade clauses, along with a 15 percent trade kicker, so he’d get a huge amount of money if dealt. Maybe there’s a way to waive that if it means James gets another shot at a ring?

So while it’s possible, we’ll see if a trade materializes by Thursday’s trade deadline. It’s worth pondering.
