As the Queen was laid to rest on Monday afternoon, King Charles III was surrounded by the rest of the Royal Family to pay their respects to the long-reigning monarch.
The Queen's beloved crown sat atop her coffin, as she was given a beautiful state funeral, and laid to rest at St George's Chapel in Windsor. The Imperial Crown sat next to a personal note by the King, that read: "In loving and devoted memory."
So, what will happen to the regal headwear and will King Charles III be wearing the same crown that his mother wore throughout her reign? Read on below for more information.

What crown will King Charles III wear?
The head of state and throne was immediately placed in Charles' hands following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The King will be formally crowned during a coronation ceremony, which is expected to take place during the spring or summer of 2023.
During the coronation, the Archbishop of Canterbury will place St Edward's Crown - also known as the Imperial State Crown, which was on top of the Queen's coffin - onto the head of King Charles III.
As well as this, Charles will also be presented with the coronation ring, which has been nicknamed as the 'wedding ring of England'. It will be placed on the monarchs right hand on the fourth finger, alongside a sceptre, which dates back to 1661.
So, yes, King Charles will wear the exact same crown that his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, wore throughout her reign. In 2018, Queen Elizabeth revealed to the world that she had to have the crown resized for her own coronation.
Then it is expected, but yet to be confirmed, that King Charles will also have the crown customised for himself. This will either be done by royal jewellers The House of Garrard, or Mark Appleby of Mappin & Webb.
