Will Ferrell tells Cristiano Ronaldo to quit Man Utd for LAFC after Erik ten Hag dig

Hollywood superstar actor Will Ferrell has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo should sign for LAFC following the Manchester United icon’s controversial comments on Erik ten Hag and the state of the club.

The Portuguese striker joined forces with Piers Morgan to take aim at United and Ten Hag over their treatment of him this season, accusing bosses within the club of trying to force him out of Old Trafford. Ronaldo's dramatic tell-all public interview appears likely to see him leave the club months after he handed in a transfer request.

Ronaldo directed much of the blame towards the Dutch coach, who hasn’t used the 37-year-old as much as the forward would like. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner finished as United’s top scorer last season but has been linked with a move away from the club amid a turbulent few months.

Ferrell became a part-owner of MLS side LAFC before their inaugural 2018 season. He once declared he had hope for the MLS to eventually ‘be on par’ with the European leagues - and signing Ronaldo would certainly help.

When asked if he would want Ronaldo to join LAFC, Ferrell said: “You’re always welcome in LA. We can’t pay you that much, but there’s really nice golf courses, beaches… you should try it.”

A move to the MLS could prove tempting for Ronaldo given few clubs in Europe could move for him following his explosive interview paired with his high wages. He is currently believed to be paid £385,000 per week by United.

It appears Ronaldo is set to leave Manchester, especially after he fired shots at Ten Hag. He accused the former Ajax boss of doubles standards when it came to dealing with players, and believes Ten Hag used his absence at preseason as an excuse to leave him out of the time.

Do you think Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United? Let us know in the comments section.

“I really understand in the beginning because I didn't do the pre-season, I don't start to play,” Ronaldo told Morgan on Talk TV. "But going more further than that, further than that. Other things happen that people don't know. And I'm not hiding that the empathy with the coach is not good. I'm honest.”

Months later, Ronaldo was left on the bench during United’s 6-2 defeat to Manchester City with Ten Hag claiming he didn’t bring him on ‘out of respect’. Ronaldo was confused when, two weeks later, his manager asked him to come on with just three minutes remaining in the 2-0 win over Tottenham, with the legendary striker leaving the pitch before the end of the game.

While Ten Hag made Ronaldo captain for several games afterwards, he felt the Dutchman had shown him a clear lack of respect. Ronaldo added: “He doesn't respect [me] the way I should deserve [to be respected]. But it is what it is. This is why probably, the game against Tottenham, I left. Excuses, I see as excuses. I saw many things that, I don't want to criticise him. He can have [a] different opinion than me.”

Ronaldo will represent Portugal at the 2022 World Cup before he returns to club action with United. Perhaps a move to Ferrell’s LAFC isn’t totally out go question given recent events.
