Will Ferrell confirms Wedding Crashers 2 script is being written as Eurovision movie released

Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell has confirmed that work on a sequel to Wedding Crashers is underway.

The 2005 comedy film followed two serial wedding crashers, played by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and was released to critical acclaim and commercial success.

Wedding Crashers also starred Ferrell as funeral crasher Chazz Reinhold, while Rachel McAdams portrayed Wilson's love interest, Claire Cleary.

Now as Ferrell and McAdams reunite for their new Netflix comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga from Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin, Ferrell has discussed the prospect of a sequel to the 2005 film.

Ferrell told E! News: "Wedding Crashers 2, yeah. I think we can just say it's being written."

The Elf star also joked about a potential premise for the comedy sequel.

"How about if it's just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? And just make it like a legal courtroom drama, not funny at all."

Naturally, it seems that his Eurovision co-star McAdams would be keen on getting the gang back together again, too.

McAdams commented: "I got to work with Owen again on Midnight in Paris, so that was super fun.

"And I worked with Vince again on True Detective, now I'm just remembering it. But those were very different. So yeah, it'd be nice to go back and have a romp."

The first film also starred Hollywood legend Christopher Walken, veteran actress Jane Seymour, and Isla Fisher in her fan-favourite role as Claire's unhinged sister, Gloria.

Bradley Coope r also appeared in a supporting role, but it is unknown if the rest of the first film's cast would return.

Meanwhile, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga has premiered to mixed reviews from critics.

Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes shows that only 58% of critics gave the film a positive reception, meaning it is deemed 'Rotten'.

The website's consensus reads: "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga contains inspired ingredients and laugh-out-loud moments, but they're outnumbered by the flat stretches in this overlong comedy."
