Will Christian Pulisic play for Chelsea against Real Madrid in Champions League quarter-final?

Chelsea return to UEFA Champions League action on Wednesday against holders Real Madrid. The Blues visit the Santiago Bernabeu in the quarter-final first leg this week before welcoming the Spanish side to Stamford Bridge next week.

Frank Lampard's men head into the clash having not scored since before the international break with many backing Real to progress to the semi-final.

Chelsea were knocked out by Los Blancos at the same stage of the tournament last season, losing 5-4 on aggregate. However, they ran-out 3-2 winners in the Spanish capital under Thomas Tuchel after losing 3-1 in the first-leg.

Lampard has a number of issues to contend with ahead of the clash with Madrid. The caretaker boss saw his first match back in charge end in defeat at the hands of Wolves.

One key area of his side that will play an important role in Chelsea's chances of progressing to the semi-final is in attack. Joao Felix and Kai Havertz have filled two spaces in the forward line since January, leaving one free.

Christian Pulisic is one player who may be considered to start in Spain. The USMNT star has started only one game since returning to injury in March and was a 61st-minute substitute at the weekend.

The winger is available for selection today after being named in the Blues' squad for the knockout stages by Graham Potter in February. With no Noni Madueke or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang available, Pulisic could be set to play a part at the Bernabeu.
