Will ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ Be On Sale For Black Friday? What We Know

Buying video games for full price can be a dicey proposition, no matter when you do it. Sure, you get to be part of a certain zeitgeist as you dive in at launch along with everyone else, but you pay a premium for that experience: not only do major AAA games typically receive discounts a few months in, they usually get patched or get more content, as well. Black Friday is a good time to get those discounts, and so people are currently wondering whether or not it’s worth waiting to get a deal on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. So can we expect one the season’s biggest games to see a discount on Black Friday.

Historically, Call of Duty games come out in October, placing enough distance between the release and Black Friday to start with discounts: we saw that last year, where several retailers had Call of Duty: Modern Warfare below $40.

This year, however, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War came out in mid-November, and that’s awfully close to Black Friday. We’ve already seen ads for Best Buy GameStop, and Walmart and none of them mention any discounts on Black Ops Cold War. While it’s not impossible that we will see a discount from another retailer like Target, these things often move in packs. So while I’m not ruling it out at this point, it’s looking unlikely.

I wouldn’t, however, be surprised to see a discount sometime in December as we move closer to holiday shopping, which would put the whole discounting process on a similar schedule as we have in previous years, just moved back a month.

That, however, is not guaranteed, so at the moment we don’t have a lot of information about the discounts coming for Call of Duty: Black OPs Cold War. There are some other major 2020 AAA games seeing discounts, however, like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion. So some pretty good options, really, just not that big one.

Check back in for more deals coverage as we approach Black Friday. It’s a weird one this year, but that’s sort of the case with literally everything, so we roll with it as best we can.
