Wilfried Gnonto's agent addresses his Leeds United future with talks due

Wilfried Gnonto’s agent will sit down with Leeds United in the coming weeks to discuss his client's desire to continue his Premier League journey. Gnonto has been consistently linked away from Elland Road this summer, with a series of clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A said to be keeping tabs on his situation in West Yorkshire.

Leeds would no doubt be keen to keep hold of the Italy international as they look to bounce back from relegation by winning promotion to the top flight at the first time of asking. However, it would seem Gnonto is looking to make the step back up to the Premier League and continue the journey he started when he made the move from Zurich to Leeds last year.

The 19-year-old has had a busy summer, having represented Italy in the Nations League, before linking up with his nation’s U21s squad to compete in the U21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia. Italy stand a good chance of securing progression to the knockout stages of the tournament and they’ll have their eyes on winning the competition with the final due to be played on July 8.

Only after that tournament will Gnonto turn his attention to his next move domestically and, according to his agent, he has a number of options to consider.

“I say that we are focused on the national team and the European championship,” Claudio Vigorelli told Calciomercato’s TVPlay, via Sport Witness. “Then we have to talk to Leeds and we’ll see, but I think there will be options.

“The Premier League experience has been fantastic for him and I think he wants to continue in that direction. But right now, the focus is on the national team.”

Gnonto was one of the breakout stars of the last Premier League campaign, receiving huge amounts of plaudits and admiration for his performances on Leeds’ left wing. He ended the season having made 28 appearances and scored four goals in all competitions.
