The wildfires raging through Los Angeles County have left a devastating mark, scorching over 36,000 acres, which is equivalent to 56.25 square miles. To put this into perspective, this total area surpasses the size of some of the most densely populated cities in the United States.

As of now, a minimum of five blazes have ravaged the region, covering areas that are:

  • About the same size as Miami, a vibrant city known for its beaches and diverse culture.
  • Two and a half times larger than Manhattan, the bustling island borough of New York City that is home to 1.6 million residents.
  • Larger than both San Francisco and Boston, two iconic cities with areas exceeding 46 square miles each.
  • Approximately 3.5% of the size of Rhode Island, the smallest state in the U.S., known for its rich history and picturesque landscapes.
