Wild scene: Karate Combat president chokes out cornerman who sparked brawl mid event

Things get wild at Karate Combat, and apparently, that includes the brass getting physically involved.

At Friday’s Karate Kombat 47, which took place in Orlando, Fla.,  Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi choked out a corner man, who was involved in a brawl during the event. Zaidi went behind the corner man, put him in a rear-naked choke, and then left him unconscious on the ground mid-skirmish.

You can watch the video of the incident below:

The brawl happened after the decision reading of Luis Melendez vs. Will Esparza. Melendez won the bout by unanimous decision, and then almost immediately began to taunt Esparza’s corner. Esparza’s corner didn’t take the gestures kindly and rushed into the pit, sparking the brawl.

Security didn’t let things escalate and immediately intervened along with the promotion’s president, who went on to choke the corner man. Once they brought the corner man back to consciousness and diffused the situation, Esparza’s team was escorted out of the pit.
