Wild celebration scenes as Liverpool parade Champions League trophy to fans

The scenes of celebration were wild in Liverpool as the team paraded the Champions League trophy to their fans.

An estimated half a million peopled lined the streets as they welcomed home Jurgen Klopp's men after their 2-0 triumph over Tottenham in Madrid.

The city was overwhelmed by a sea of red as the players proudly held aloft their sixth European crown.

The celebrations were deafening as Klopp waved at supporters who were in euphoric mood.

Jordan Henderson proudly stood at the front of the open top bus - plastered with the words 'Champions of Europe - surrounded by his jubilant teammates.

Players could be seen using their phones to capture the atmosphere on the streets.

Klopp masks were aplenty among supporters, and a declaration from Lord Mayor of Liverpool Peter Brennan hailed the team's momentous win.

It proved to be a day to remember, which followed a night they will never forget.

The Merseyside club secured the trophy thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi.
