Wild campers have been staying illegally at a National Trust site, leaving poo and tissue paper at the beauty spot. Fires have also been started at Penrose and Loe Bar beach near Helston in Cornwall where more and more tents are being seen.
As reported by Cornwall Live, the National Trust site see many walkers pass through the coastal trail. But some are pitching their tents and staying the night.
One walker said: "Every time we go down there, especially at the weekend, there are people camping, especially at Loe Bar beach. A lot of the wild campers are hiking on coastal trail and staying there overnight.
"There are loads of signs around saying 'no camping'. We've found defecation in the hedges, tissue paper in the bushes and a chap there on the weekend had a fire on the grassland."
Pictures show several tents on the site as well as burnt wood and litter left behind. It is believed the tents pictured were there for the full weekend.
"It's been going on for weeks now, since the start of the summer, and last year," said the walker. "Word seems to be getting out that it's a free-for-all."
A National Trust sign at the site reads: "No fishing, swimming, kayaling, SUPs or any water sports permitted at Loe Pool. No vehicular access to Loe Bar.
"No camping or overnight stays. Thank you for your support." CornwallLive contacted the National Trust for more information.
