To celebrate British Pie Week, we asked Wiganers to let us know what the best pie shop around is.
After initially asking for nominations on the MyWigan Facebook page, suggestions came flooding in from readers about which bakery should have the title Lord of the Pies bestowed upon it.
Chain bakerys such of Greggs and Pound Bakery were shunned in favour of local independents and the question was a hotly contested topic of discussion.
Eventually we narrowed our nominations down to five entries and invited you to vote in our poll.
After counting the results, we can finally reveal the winner.
The runners up

In the end there were only a few votes in it either way.
Despite a very strong show of support in the comments on the MyWigan page, in order to get it nominated, The Rolling Pin narrowly missed out on the crown when it came to poll votes.
Last year, Whittles didn't even make our shortlist but it was actually the bakery that ran the winner the closest this time around
There were also votes for giants of the Wigan pie world Galloways and Tyldesley-based bakery Dawsons.
The winner - Muffin Man

The one you've been waiting for.
Last year when MyWigan took on the 'Great Wigan Pie Challenge' our taste testers were enamoured with Muffin Man's bakery's chunky steak pie and the bakery has once again taken top spot.
In the comments on Facebook, Andrew John Bowman wrote: "Without a shadow of a doubt muffin man great food service every time."
Emma Louise commented: "Definitely muffin man every time."
Julie Long added: "Muffin man always."
So there you have it.
