Wife's fury as husband books her and son on economy flight while he enjoys business class seat

A furious wife went "nuts" because her husband falsely claimed to have secured business class tickets for her and their son on a lengthy flight. Speaking on an online forum Mumsnet, the wife explained what had happened and wanted to know if she was being unreasonable.

Her husband had booked business class tickets on a flight, with his employers paying for them. He then invited his wife and son, aged two, saying he had booked them the premium tickets.

However, much to her anger, the wife discovered several weeks before departure that her husband had in fact booked her and their son economy seats. Meanwhile, he was still jetting off in the comfort of business class.

She said on Mumsnet: "Six weeks later I discover he'd lied and basically booked the cheapest economy tickets available (no seat reservation option/upgrade option). I tried ringing the airline but premium economy was fully booked one way and the other way there was space but at a cost of £2k so I said no.

"I didn't think much of it, just that at check-in I would be able to choose seats - at no point has there been an option to select seats/pay to select seats except at time of booking. Anyway I've tried to check in three days before and I can only check-in at airport.

"Son and I have been allocated seats middle and aisle. We are next to each other which is great but not ideal, I would have wanted window/middle or two seats from the middle bank of plane (got an inflatable foot rest with the hope son can sleep as it's a night flight but now can't use as we are stuck with middle and aisle seats)."

She added: "I've gone nuts at my husband because I think he's a selfish p**** that was too tight to book a seat reservation when making the booking. Meanwhile he laps it up in business class. I've rung the airline but they said the seats cant be changed.

"Am I being unreasonable to be annoyed with husband? Am I being unreasonable to drag him out of business class so he can do his share of parenting?

"I doubt we can swap half-way through but did wonder if he could take son to sleep with him as he will be able to lie down? I'm worried that if son has the middle seat and if he sleeps I'll have to wake him up to let person in window seat go past."

Internet users were quick to side with the mum, calling her husband "disrespectful". Many pointed out the worst part was the fact he lied.

"What's his justification for this? And why are you the one ringing around and trying to sort this? Does your husband often treat you with such utter disrespect? I wouldn't be going on this holiday," wrote one.

"What is his excuse for lying straight to your face? I wouldn't be going at all in these circumstances," said another.

Someone else commented: "What is his excuse for lying straight to your face? I wouldn't be going at all in these circumstances."

Another offered a compromise: "One of you goes economy with son on way there, and the other one does on the way back. Only fair way."
