Wife of US rape suspect Nicholas Rossi claims husband 'is 100 percent' innocent

The wife of fugitive Nicholas Rossi has claimed that her husband is '100 percent not a rapist' as he faces extradition to the United States over sex assault charges. Miranda Knight also told NBC’s Dateline that she hopes the pair will one day “crack open a bottle of champagne” and “return to their normal lives” as her husband remains in custody.

The fantasist, 35, who claimed to be an Irishman called Arthur Knight, failed to appear in court last week after an alleged ‘altercation’ with a security guard at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. He was previously remanded in custody after being considered a significant flight risk amid claims he faked his own death in 2020 to avoid prosecution in Utah.

He was arrested in December 2021 while being treated for Covid-19 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow - with a sheriff ruling he is the man wanted by US authorities. Speaking on a two-hour special called Dead Man Walking, Miranda backed her husband’s claims that he is the victim of mistaken identity, the Scottish Sun reports.

She said: “My husband has never done anything which has hurt me. He’s never assaulted me. I do know the truth. I know he’s innocent and I know he’s not a rapist — 100 percent.

“We will fight this together and there will be a time where we crack open a bottle of champagne and we will go back to our normal lives as a normal couple with our beautiful dogs and restart our lives.”

The couple continue to claim that Rossi is actually an innocent Irishman called Arthur Knight (Daily Record)

The interview was filmed just weeks after Rossi was arrested but aired for the first time in America on Friday night.

We previously told how Sheriff McFadeyn blasted Rossi’s claims to be an innocent Irishman called Arthur Knight. He called Rossi’s allegation he was tattooed while in a coma in the Glasgow hospital to frame him as “implausible and fanciful”.

The sheriff said Rossi’s “highly suspicious” change of names in recent years was “consistent with someone who was hiding from someone or something”.
