Wife of Dolphins safety says team’s immaturity was ‘like a plague’

There have been many critics of Mike McDaniel’s handling of the Miami Dolphins locker room since head coach admitted after the season that he struggled to discipline the team and fining players “didn’t move the needle.”

Among the many who say the team has a culture issue is Rachel Bush, the wife of Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer.

Shortly after McDaniel’s admission about the team’s discipline issues, Bush posted on social media that the Dolphins need more “grown men” in their locker room.

Days later, Bush reposted a video of ex-NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson criticizing the Dolphins’ maturity issues. She’s also had effusive praise for the locker room culture of the Buffalo Bills, where Poyer spent seven seasons before joining Miami in 2024.

Poyer, 33, signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins and is due to become a free agent in March.

In the 2024 season, Poyer didn’t record any interceptions, forced fumbles, sacks, or tackles for loss; however, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver had plenty of praise for the veteran safety, telling reporters in November that Poyer was frequently responsible for “just getting people in the right positions.”
