Why you recognise Ellis' dad Al Chapman on Emmerdale as actor Michael Wildman debuts

Emmerdale airs the arrival of Ellis Chapman's dad Al next week, with the character played by actor Michael Wildman.

His intentions for his surprise appearance have yet to be confirmed, with him no doubt set to bring trouble to ex Jessie Grant's door.

But viewers may recognise the actor who plays Al when he makes his ITV soap debut next week.

The character is no stranger to big telly roles, while he's also featured in a number of huge movies including Harry Potter.

Al Chapman is played by actor Michael Wildman (ITV)

Viewers may recognise him from his time on former Channel 5 soap Family Affairs between 2003 and 2004, when he played Marc MacKenzie.

Other UK TV roles include stints on Holby City, Casualty, Peep Show and even Extras, alongside Hollywood actor Samuel L Jackson.

Being Human, New Tricks, Waking the Dead, Silent Witness and Marcella are all other shows featuring on his super long IMDB list.

He appeared in Ready Player One in 2018 (Warner Bros.)

Most recently, he appeared in the BBC crime series Rellik, playing DI Martin Brook.

But it isn't just TV he's starred on, with Michael also a Hollywood actor in his own right.

This year he'll be seen in the new Fast & Furious movie, Hobbs & Shaw.

Harry Potter fans might recall he played Magorian, a Centaur, in the fifth film in the franchise, Order of the Phoenix.

Other movie roles include Ready Player One in 2018, London Has Fallen in 2016 and the movie adaption of Spooks, titled The Greater Good.

Emmerdale fans will see Michael's latest character Al Chapman arrive in the Dales next week.

Emmerdale airs week nights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays .
