Why West Ham want Newcastle and Liverpool to win their next games amid relegation battle

West Ham United can secure their Premier League status for another season this weekend regardless of their result against Brentford next weekend.

Sunday's 1-0 win at the London Stadium against Manchester United moved the Hammers seven points clear with three games remaining.

And next up for David Moyes' side in the league is the Bees, who are desperately trying to keep their slim European hopes alive.

But before that match takes place at the Bees' Gtech Community Stadium, Leicester City and Leeds United are both in action on Saturday.

The two clubs currently occupy 18th and 19th in the Premier League respectively and their games against Liverpool and Newcastle United could have a major impact on the relegation battle.

Should Eddie Howe's side beat Leeds in Saturday's lunch-time kick-off, it would leave the Whites seven points behind West Ham with two games to go - making it impossible for the Hammers to finish below Leeds.

With David Moyes' side playing on Sunday, a defeat to Brentford would not be the end of the world for the east London outfit.

Should Liverpool overcome Leicester on Monday evening, West Ham would be safe with two games to spare.

Should all three teams win this weekend, West Ham would be safe in their battle against relegation as it would leave the team seven points clear with two games remaining.
