Olivia Attwood was forced to quit I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! on Monday, just 24 hours after entering the jungle.

The former Love Island star, 31, had made history by becoming the first ex-islander to take part in the ITV show.

She was part of Sunday’s launch programme, which involved 10 new celebrities entering the Australian jungle. The show had been filmed at Gwrych Castle in North Wales for the past two years due to Covid restrictions.

Joining Attwood in the jungle were stars such as royal family member Mike Tindall, former England Lionesses footballer Jill Scott and radio broadcaster Chris Moyles.

Boy George, Scarlette Douglas, Moyles and Attwood were all selected to become Jungle VIPs - later revealed to mean “Very Isolated People” - and sent to an alternative campsite.

But what exactly caused Olivia Attwood to quit I’m A Celebrity?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Why did Olivia Attwood quit I’m A Celebrity?

It has been confirmed that Attwood quit the show on medical grounds.

Speaking to the Sun, an insider said: “Olivia was involved in a medical drama overnight. She really wants to go back into the camp but medics won’t let her.”

An ITV representative confirmed Attwood had left the show, telling the Evening Standard: “As a precautionary measure, Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.

“Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she’ll be very much missed on the show.”

In a statement posted to Attwood’s Instagram story, her team said: “To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement, she dreamed of doing ‘I’m a Celeb’ for years and was absolutely loving every second of the show and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).

“However, for reasons beyond her control her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as it always had.”

They added: “You will hera the truth from Olivia in due course and she will be back on your screens in the New Year. PS. Who’s going to roast Matt Hancock now?”
