"Thank you to our team @thisistvc and @metpolice_uk for being amazing... I've been to the pub with everyone now back to get my house keys."

It comes after the popular ITV daytime show went to an advert break around 12pm only for the show's opening title sequence to start playing upon its return.

What followed was a pre-recorded episode of the show's "best bits" featuring a socially distanced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield saying they "could not be with you live today" leaving fans baffled by their sudden departure.

This Morning addressed the disruption on social media, telling viewers: "We apologise for the break in live programming today. We are currently running pre-recorded content and hope to be back with you soon."

Shortly after Loose Women was also pulled with a pre-recorded episode airing in the allocated time slot.

At the time it wasn't clear why the live show was suddenly pulled off air, but a "security incident" was reported nearby to the studios, according to The Mirror.

A tweet from Transport for London read: "White City and Wood Lane stations closed: While the police respond to a security alert outside the station."

Metropolitan Police later tweeted: "Police dealt with a #SuspiciousPackage reported at 11:44hrs this morning at #WhiteCity. The incident was stood down at 12:49hrs. Cordons have now been lifted."
