Why was Dua Lipa not at Glastonbury? Singer slammed for 'ridiculous reason' she missed Elton John's Glasto set

Dua Lipa has been slammed for 'snubbing' Elton John's epic Glastonbury set.

The legendary singer, 76, took to the Pyramid Stage in a night that will go down in music history.

Dua, 27, was tipped to be performing with Elton, who she duetted with on Cold Heart in 2021, but left the star to sing the hit alone - because she was out for dinner.

After sharing snaps from a family meal on Sunday, Dua felt the wrath of fans, who wondered why she hadn't rocked up on stage with the Rocket Man.

One said: "Sorry Dua Lipa but where on earth is more important to be right now than the headlining performance of Glastonbury with Elton John?"

Another quipped: "No Dua Lipa either… beyond belief #Glastonbury."

A third wrote: 'I'm dying to know what Dua Lipa chose to do rather than perform with Elton John on his final UK performance.'

Someone else said: "Bit unfortunate for Elton John that Dua Lipa chose #Glastonbury for the first night she stayed at home in three years."

While a fifth vented: "Listen Dua Lipa I love you but there is 0 family event or commitment more important than getting a boogie on with Elton at Glastonbury."

Dua and Elton released the chart-topping Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) together in August 2021 and they performed the song at the end of his US final tour date at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in November in 2022.

Ahead of Elton's Glastonbury performance on Sunday, the music icon's husband David Furnish teased fans about the singer's plans to bring major stars on stage with him.

"Four collaborators of his choosing," David told Sky News journalist Beth Rigby.

"People, he just thought, 'I’d really like to do something with these artists at Glastonbury'. And that’s all I’m going to say."

When pushed to reveal the names of the four collaborators, David added: "Sorry. I am sworn to secrecy."

Fans were convinced Dua would make an appearance, but artists including The Killers' Brandon Flowers joined Elton on stage in a set, which wowed fans all over the world.

Ahead of the star's headline set, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis spoke to the Glastonbury Free Press onsite paper about landing the epic star for his Sunday night performance.

She explained how hands-on Elton had been in preparation for his 9pm slot.

Emily said: “We have so many artists playing here and often we don’t have much direct contact. But Elton has been very involved and we’ve worked really closely. He’s so excited and engaged with what Glastonbury is.”

The Glastonbury guru explained the star had even been calling her out of the blue to discuss the finer points as the day got closer.

“It has been quite surreal," Emily continued. "Standing there in the farmhouse chatting to Elton while trying to get the kids ready for school, or whatever. But he’s been absolutely lovely."

“He’s been carving out a set that’s going to be completely unique to Glastonbury. I love his love for doing that. I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s going to be amazing."
