When you make substantial changes to how a team plays, it can sometimes take a considerable amount of time for the new configuration to find a groove — if it ever does. So when you have an opportunity to trade for a major star in the NBA who has had a history of struggling to fit into situations when the going gets rough (and even, at times, when he’s winning) such as Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, it’s a point worth thinking hard about.
The version of the Boston Celtics we saw make it to within two wins of a title took time to get going right under first-year head coach Ime Udoka. Why do some seem to think that a deal for KD would not require the same — or be free from the griping that saw his exit from the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors, and now presumable the Nets?
To talk over why a deal for KD could be a step back for the Celtics, the hosts of the CLNS Media “A-List” Podcast sat down to talk it over on a recent episode.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear why they think it might be the wrong move for Boston to consider.
