Why Tottenham vs Portsmouth isn't on TV: Kick-off time, live stream and how to follow

Tottenham will face League One side Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round this afternoon, with Antonio Conte expected to hand a number of fringe players the chance to impress. Spurs come into the game full of confidence after they cruised to a 4-0 win against London rivals Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Conte will hope for another strong performance so that his side can progress into the next round as he targets a trophy come the end of the season. Pompey became FA Cup winners for the second time in 2008, before administration and relegation led to them falling down the English football pyramid.

The last competitive head-to-head between these two sides came in this competition 13 years ago - a day to forget for Spurs fans - as goals from Frédéric Piquionne and Kevin Prince-Boateng ensured the South Coast side emerged 2-0 victors after extra-time in the semi-finals at Wembley. The match has been allocated a Saturday lunchtime slot, with a kick-off time of 12:30pm at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite a favourable kick-off time, the match will not be broadcasted live on TV for fans watching at home. BBC and ITV share coverage duties for this competition, however both have opted to broadcast later matches that day.

BBC have opted to broadcast Sheffield Wednesday vs Newcastle, whilst ITV is set to show the 8:00pm kick-off between Liverpool and Wolves. Spurs supporters will instead be able to watch their team in action via the BBC Red Button, BBC iPlayer or the BBC Sport website and app to stream the match live.

All that is required to do so is the registration of a free BBC account. Additionally, for those who can't tune in live, football.london will have coverage via our live blog and highlights of Saturday's fixtures, including Spurs v Pompey, will be shown on BBC's Match of the Day starting at 10:40pm that night.
