Tottenham paid respect to former defender Anton Walkes during their match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Walkes, 25, passed away on Thursday morning in America after being involved in a tragic boat accident.
"Everyone at Tepper Sports & Entertainment is devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes. He was a tremendous son, father, partner and teammate whose joyous approach to life touched everyone he met," said Charlotte FC owner David Tepper.
"Anton made those around him better people in all areas of life and represented Charlotte FC to the highest standard both on and off the pitch. He will be greatly missed by many and our thoughts and prayers are with Anton’s family during this heartbreaking time. The club offers its full support to all those impacted during this period of mourning."

Walkes played 50 times for the club's youth side before leaving in 2018, he went on to play for Portsmouth and Atalanta before signing for MLS side Charlotte. He never started a game for Spurs' senior side but did come off the bench against Gillingham for an appearance in 2016.
Antonio Conte's men took to the field just hours after the announcement, playing away from home against Manchester City and wore black armbands out as a tribute to their former player.
