Tom Lawrence has been selected to start for Rangers against Heart of Midlothian today.
The 31-year-old midfielder has only played 20 minutes of football since coming off injured during the Scottish League Cup semi-final against Motherwell in early November.
But he’s a player who, when fit, can bring a different dynamic to Rangers as they desperately seek a response to their shock Scottish Cup elimination by Queen's Park last weekend.
Explaining why he’s picked Lawrence ahead of Nedim Bajrami for the Scottish Premiership clash at Tynecastle today, Rangers manager Philippe Clement said: “Tom had a good period at the beginning of the season until his injury.
“He was important with goals and assists out of that role, out of the midfield making the right infiltrations in the right moment and working hard for the team.
“Unluckily he gets that injury, so I expect the same again. It will not be for 90 minutes but he can be important with his infiltrations out of the midfield and being available around Hamza [Igamane].”
