Why Thomas Tuchel to Bayern Munich is bad news for Tottenham and Man United in Harry Kane future

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been linked with being a successor to Antonio Conte at Tottenham if the Italian leaves the club in the coming weeks or months. The head coach has been coming under increasing pressure with the Lilywhites as his contract nears the end.

Conte's recent outburst after a draw against Southampton has only heightened talks of a dismissal as the north London outfit look set to move forward. Tuchel is one of a number of names associated with the potentially vacant post, however that seems an unlikely pairing now.

Reports on Thursday night claimed that the German coach is set to take over Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga champions axe Julian Nagelsmann in unexpected fashion. That would lead many to believe that could be the end of the story between Tuchel and Spurs, but that may not be the case.

Rather the former Chelsea man could have a big say in the future of Harry Kane, who has an uncertain few months ahead of him. The England captain has just over 12-months remaining on his contract with the club, with the desire to add trophies to his cabinet before he retires.

It saw Kane push for a move to Manchester City just a couple of years ago, though chairman Daniel Levy stood firm in keeping the goal scorer at the club. The case of his contract is much tougher though, given the fact that Kane could walk away if he wishes and wouldn't be short of suitors.

Amongst those are Manchester United and Bayern, which is where Tuchel comes in once again as he could have a big say over whether the forward makes a switch. He's not secret admirer either, making the point clear in 2021 that he would love to sign Kane at some stage.

When asked whether or not he had recommended to the Chelsea board that they should sign Kane in May 2021, Tuchel replied: "If you find any coach around the world who would not like to have Harry Kane in his team, call me again. I would like to speak with the guy and hear about his ideas of scoring and attacking.

"Everybody loves Harry Kane but let’s be very, very clear. He is a player for Tottenham. He has a long-term contract and we will not get involved in any press conference with any disrespectful comments about that."

It remains to be seen if the change of situation a few years down the line will change anything, but Tottenham are running out of time to prove to Kane that the club has a project that he can believe in and sign to.
