The Marcliffe in Aberdeen was the only hotel in Scotland named among the best affordable stays in the UK by consumer watchdog Which?.
Discussing the hotel, the group said that from the moment you "climb the sweeping drive of the Victorian manor" on the outskirts of the city "every minute at the Marcliffe feels special."
The watchdog added that "there is no bling" or "cocktail-snapping influencers" at this establishment but that the "almost old-fashioned" atmosphere brings an "elegance" that is sure to appeal to "minor royals"
The "spacious" rooms are said to be decorated in "muted greys and browns" with the locally sourced mattresses providing a "wonderfully comfortable" sleep.
For dinner, guests are still expected to dress to the nines, creating "a sense of occasion" every night.
The Marcliffe was also praised for its dining (Image: Tripadvisor) The "locally caught" langoustines in chilli and garlic as well as sirloin of Aberdeenshire beef are said to be "exquisitely presented and taste excellent".
