Picture this: You’re at a Drake gig in Sydney, expecting to see fans losing their minds over his hits, buss down, shake their ass — the usual. Instead, you’re met with a sea of signs that look more like a GoFundMe page than a concert.
A photo from Drizzy’s recent show at Qudos Bank Arena has gone viral, and not for the reasons you’d expect. Instead of the usual “I love you Drake” or “Marry me” signs, concertgoers decided to shoot their shot at getting some cold, hard cash from the Canadian rapper.

The signs ranged from the slightly cheeky to the downright audacious. One fan wrote, “Papi help pay off my mum’s mortgage,” while another went for the classic, “Help my BF buy me an engagement ring.”
There was even a “Pay our dog vet bill”, thrown in there for good measure.

A hustler even asked Drake to fund their bachelorette party in Ibiza, because nothing says ‘I’m your biggest fan’ quite like asking for a free holiday.
To be fair, Drake’s been known to splash the cash at his shows. Just last week in Melbourne, he reportedly handed out $25,000 to a fan with an “Adonis for President” sign, referencing his seven-year-old son. And in Sydney, he gave $30,000 to a pregnant woman, telling her to “get [her] ass out of the pit” for safety reasons.
Drake also said that he would give $30,000 to a couple holding up a sign that read, “Habibi help us pay for our wedding.” He also claimed that he would pay for their honeymoon if they send him proof of the wedding.
But this latest photo has got people online questioning whether these concertgoers are there for the music or just to beg for money. One Twitter user called it “one of the most genuinely dystopian photographs I’ve seen in recent months”.

Others were quick to point out the irony. “Not them acting like it’s a charity event. They were able to afford tickets, they can’t be doing that bad,” one person wrote.
Another joked, “Do they think Drake is Santa?”

Drake’s still got a few more shows in Australia before he jets off to New Zealand. Who knows what kind of signs we’ll see next? “Drake, pay my HECS debt“? “Fund my Sonny Angel addiction”? The possibilities are endless.
