Why these 'beautiful' seaside spots in Scotland are among the best in the UK

TWO "beautiful" coastal areas in Scotland have been named among the best seaside walks in the whole of the UK.

East Neuk in Fife and Ardnamurchan in the Scottish Highlands were named alongside spots across the country, including Isle of Purbeck in Dorset and Dinas Island in Pembrokeshire.

Introducing the ranking, The Telegraph said that even a short walk can provide a range of "health-boosting" benefits, which is why it's a great idea to explore the UK's best seaside locations this spring.

The "plummest" stretch is said to be between Elie’s "golden sands" and "photogenic" Crail.

En route lies the "historic" windmill at St Monans, the "pretty" port of Pittenweem, the food lover's paradise of Anstruther and a "varied shore of fascinating rocks, castle ruins and slobbed-out seals."

Those looking to travel by public transport can take the Number 95 bus, which stops at every village.

Ardnamurchan Point in the Scottish Highlands is said to be a location where walking isn’t too "strenuous"

The "invigorating" loop starts from the "minuscule" crofting settlement of Portuairk, where visitors will find a "scatter of whitewashed cottages" that "gaze" over Sanna Bay.

After travelling along the coast at low tide, walkers coming here will reach the "beautiful" Bay McNeil where Ardnamurchan's lighthouse looms in the distance.
