The M4 westbound was closed for around four hours on Tuesday, May 10, causing miles of traffic to build along the motorway. The closure was in place at J41 Pentyla Interchange between 7.30am and 11.23am.
Officers enforced the closure of the westbound carriageway after a lorry overturned between J42 Earlswood and J43 Llandarcy. Police attended the scene and traffic was diverted while recovery was underway.
South Wales Police confirmed there were no injuries and the Welsh Ambulance Service was stood down from the incident. You can recap the live updates of the incident here.
At the time of the incident, a spokesperson for South Wales Police said: " South Wales Police is currently in attendance at a road traffic collision on the M4 westbound, by Junction 42. The collision involved an overturned lorry, there are no reported injuries.
"The road is currently closed and traffic is diverted off at Junction 41 Westbound. It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes where possible."
