There has been no shortage of articles pillorying the Chicago Bulls for their lack of movement at the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline. But Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey has one trade in particular he thinks should have happened. In the absence of Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid as the big man heals up from a knee injury, “Philly needed to add some size.”
For this reason, the B/R analyst believes that Bulls center Andre Drummond “would’ve helped to keep the Sixers in the East’s top six even without Embiid. Drummond only makes $3.4 million, and he’s averaged 11.0 rebounds, 10.5 points, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals in just 20.5 minutes over his past 20 games.”
“Chicago should be entering rebuild mode, so perhaps someone like (Philly guard Jaden) Springer might’ve been intriguing to them,” adds Bailey.

“With Drummond being on an expiring contract, a second rounder should’ve been enough to sell the Bulls on moving him,” he adds.
Frankly, anything headed into the Bulls’ draft asset pool for players not part of their future would have been a better plan for Chicago, but that ship has unfortunately sailed.
