If you've driven along Oystermouth Road in Swansea in recent weeks, you will have spotted a large amount of scaffolding and construction work taking place outside Swansea Arena. Scaffolding can be spotted alongside the spiral staircase area, and blocking off the concrete staircase leading up to the entrance of the 3,500 capacity attraction.
It has been put in place to allow 'finishing works' to be competed, Swansea Council has said. They have been described as 'snagging works', a slang word used in the construction industry to describe the process of checking building works before they finish, and compiling a list of unsatisfactory or outstanding works to be done.
The council had previously said that the spiral staircase had been gathering too much rain, so contractor Buckingham Group, was to carry out upgrade works. Get Swansea stories straight to your inbox with our newsletter.

A Swansea Council spokesman said: “Finishing works have been taking place on the spiral staircase that leads to the arena. These works – being done by our contractor for the scheme at no additional cost to the council - are due for imminent completion, and the scaffolding will be removed in the coming days.
“Snagging works of this kind are normal for a scheme of Copr Bay’s size and complexity. Significant progress is also being made on completing all other snagging works there.”
