Why Sergio Reguilon is not in Tottenham team vs Brentford as Antonio Conte confirms problem

Antonio Conte has revealed that Sergio Reguilon is suffering with a bit of a groin pain at present. A regular in the Tottenham XI in recent weeks with Ryan Sessegnon out injured, the Spaniard dropped out of the team for the Premier League clash against Brentford.

Despite the groin issue, Reguilon was fit enough to be part of the squad at Brentford Community Stadium and took his place on the bench in west London. His absence from the team means that Sessegnon returned to the pitch for the first time since injuring his hamstring in the 5-0 win over Everton at the start of March.

Tottenham have got plenty of joy out of their wing-backs in recent weeks but Reguilon didn't have an impact on proceedings against Brentford last time out. Not fit enough to start against the Bees, Conte has indicated that the club's medical department are trying to solve the player's current problem.

"First of all, Sergio is suffering a bit of groin pain, medical department is trying to monitor the situation," explained Conte to Sky Sports ahead of the game. "We are trying to take care of this problem, to solve this problem. He's available for the bench.

"Sessegnon recovered from injury and now he can play and he's in the starting XI."

Following Arsenal's impressive wins over Chelsea and Manchester United so far this week, Tottenham need to collect all three points to move level on points with their rivals once again. Following Saturday's game against Brentford, the Lilywhites host Leicester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday in their next Premier League game.
