Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed he was in contact with Harvey Elliott after the Liverpool starlet dislocated his ankle back in September.
The 18-year-old had enjoyed an impressive start to the season, having shone on loan in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers last year, breaking into Jurgen Klopp ’s first team only for a clumsy tackle from Pascal Struijk to stop his campaign in its tracks after just four appearances.

After five months on the sidelines, the teenager made his return for the Reds at the weekend against Cardiff City, coming off the bench to score his first goal for his boyhood club.
And speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube show , Ferdinand made a big prediction about Elliott’s future after revealing he had texted the Liverpool starlet back in September after he suffered the injury.
“I messaged him ( Elliott ) when he got injured actually at the time. Just to say wish him well and keep your chin up and what not,” said the former England international.
“I think this kid’s got a huge, huge, huge future.
“I mean, that’s quite stating the obvious a little bit, but I think he’s going to be one of the standout English players definitely in the years to come.”
