Police have confirmed why a helicopter was circling an area of south Bristol.
A huge search was launched after officers were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a person in Brislington.
One local told Bristol Live that they heard the helicopter circling the south side of the city for 45 minutes at around midnight on Wednesday night (January 26).

Avon and Somerset Police further clarified the reasons behind why the helicopter was sent up.
The force said in a statement: “Yesterday evening (Wednesday 26 January) at around 11pm police received a report regarding concern for the welfare of a person in the Brislington area.
"A search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) but the individual was not located."
Police helicopters are normally only deployed to fly at night if there is an ongoing incident that requires air support.
These incidents could be anything from a missing person search, a police pursuit to a medical evacuation.
