The Premier League have confirmed that a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up to Phil Foden's second-half goal in their clash at Anfield was the reason why it was disallowed.
The hosts had the better of the first 45 minutes of the Premier League clash. However, Manchester City thought they'd taken the lead after the break when Foden squeezed the ball over the line.
Jurgen Klopp and his players were furious after the goal was initially given and immediately protested to referee Anthony Taylor. It looked as though they were angry with a challenge Haaland had made on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson to win the ball before Foden scored.

However, it wasn't that incident that led to the goal being disallowed, but instead a foul by Haaland earlier in the move, as he pulled on the shirt of Fabinho.
The Premier League tweeted: "Phil Foden has the ball in the net for Man City, but after visiting the Referee Review Area Anthony Taylor has disallowed the goal because Erling Haaland fouled Fabinho in the build-up. Still Liverpool 0-0 Man City (55 mins)."
Pep Guardiola certainly wasn't happy with the decision and was warned after a brief altercation on the touchline. Diogo Jota had a great chance to put his side ahead moments later but headed over, while Haaland forced Alisson into a smart save.
Liverpool eventually took the lead as Mohamed Salah wriggled away from Joao Cancelo and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
