Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Everton winger Anthony Gordon. Gordon enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park last term and played a pivotal role in helping the Toffees escape relegation.
While there has been talk of a £35m deal, and Newcastle are interested, ChronicleLive understands a bid for the England U21 international from Tyneside has yet to emerge.
However, interest in Gordon should excite Newcastle fans because of what it represents for the club going forward.

The 21-year-old winger is a promising prospect and is exactly the sort of player Newcastle should be in for.
While much has been made of potentially signing the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe following last seasons takeover, they were never realistic targets, as most Newcastle fans know.
Club officials know they are far off from being able to attract players in that stratosphere but they are an enticing prospect for players like Gordon.
Gordon would be a signing with plenty of up-side. He predominately operated off the right-wing last season, which is a position Newcastle want to strengthen this summer.
Interest in players like Gordon and Bayern Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby shows the club are keen on being involved in the right conversations for the right type of player, who can help them kick on following their promising 11th-placed finish last season.
Since October's takeover, the Magpies have already convinced England internationals Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier to join their project.
Alongside the England duo, Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes were two of Europe's most sought-after prospects, showing Newcastle's project does have the power to attract players who could go on to be superstars.
Now, whether or not they sign Gordon this summer remains to be seen. After letting Richarlison move to Spurs, Everton are reluctant to sell another attacker.
But interest in a winger who has played plenty of age-grade football for England and could become something special shows Newcastle want to be involved in these sort of transfer conversations.
They have already attracted full-internationals and some of Europe's finest prospects to Tyneside. Fans should rightly get excited and expect that to continue as Newcastle move forward.
