Why Morecambe's Cole Stockton missed Fleetwood Town draw ahead of Bolton Wanderers clash

Morecambe talisman Cole Stockton missed the draw over the weekend against Fleetwood Town owing to an illness with the Shrimps heading to take on Bolton Wanderers tomorrow evening.

Wanderers host Derek Adams' side at the University of Bolton Stadium in League One. The Whites will be aiming to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign.

The Shrimps drew 1-1 against the Cod Army in their match at the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday. Former Bolton attacker Arthur Gnahoua gave Morecambe the lead before Danny Andrew equalised before full-time, with Paddy Lane shown a straight red card in injury time for the visitors.

Stockton scored 26 times last season for the Shrimps in all competitions. However, he was absent from Morecambe's squad over the weekend for the draw, with his deal at the club running out as things stand next summer.

However, Adams said after the draw that the striker phoned in ill on the morning prior to the game and that was why he was absent for the game. Next up for Morecambe is a trip to the University of Bolton Stadium tomorrow and Adams is expecting a tough encounter.

Speaking to the club's YouTube channel, Adams said: “Bolton have started the season very well, they are always tough when we go there.

"We have played well but in the past they have been able to win. We are just looking to take on the performances we have had - we are undefeated at home this season.”
