Why military planes were spotted flying over Wirral

Two fighter jets were spotted flying low across one part of Wirral today.

The Typhoons operated by BAE an international defence, aerospace, and security company were caught on camera shooting across the sky in Heswall. People reported seeing the planes, as they undertook a routine flight across Wirral.

The planes are based out of Warton Aerodrome in Lancashire and photos of the Typhoons were captured on camera flying through Heswall.

One neighbour remarked that their “whole house shook” as the jet flew past. In a local Heswall Facebook group, one person said: “Fighter jets I believe, the noise was incredible”. Another said: “Is it safe to come out from underneath the bed yet.”

A BAE Systems spokesperson said: “We regularly make flights involving Typhoon aircraft off the coast of Lancashire, flying in approved areas over the Irish Sea, to support our work developing new capabilities for our customers, including the Royal Air Force.

“Typhoon delivers 24/7, 365 days a year air security over the skies of the United Kingdom and we are proud to work alongside the RAF to ensure we continue to deliver the capability required to keep our skies safe for decades to come.”
