Manchester United youngster Charlie Savage has opted not to join up with Wales' U21 squad for their upcoming friendly against Scotland in order to stay at Forest Green Rovers.
Savage made the move to the League One side in January in a bid to experience first-team football. Having not played in the first three league matches under Duncan Ferguson, the teenager has now earned his place in the Forest Green starting line-up.
Last weekend, Savage scored his first goal in senior football during the 3-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers and soon after he was called up to Wales' U21 squad. However, with Forest Green in the midst of a relegation battle, the 19-year-old has chosen to remain at the club as they battle for more points.

Due to Rovers being in the third tier of English football, there is no international break. Thus, on Sunday when Wales are playing Scotland, Forest Green will be hosting high-flying Sheffield Wednesday.
Discussing his decision, Savage told United's official website: "I’ve been given permission to stay with Forest Green Rovers for the upcoming international break. It is always an honour to be called up for your country, wearing the national team shirt is one of the best and proudest experiences you can have in football.
"I’m really enjoying my time with Forest Green and want to give everything to help us fight for points during the next two weeks and then into the remainder of the season. This is something that I have given a lot of consideration to, I want to repay the respect and loyalty to an incredible group of players, coaches and staff who are giving everything every day for this club.
"I want to thank the coaches and everyone at FA Wales for their understanding and I look forward to joining up with them again at the end of the season."
