Liverpool's summer transfer business is now all but over after they completed the signing of highly-rated Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay for a fee in the region of £6.5m.
The 18-year-old became the Reds' third addition on Saturday following the arrivals of Fulham's Fabio Carvalho on a free transfer and Darwin Nunez for a reported club record fee from Benfica. Jurgen Klopp 's aim was to lower the average age of the squad and he has done just that with the trio all aged 22 or younger.
However, there is some frustration from fans that Liverpool have not signed a new midfielder in the window with many feeling that area 'lacks quality' and 'fresh legs'. Klopp is an admirer of Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham and now- Real Madrid star Aurien Tchouameni but the Reds boss has decided to wait until at least next summer to strengthen his midfield.
Liverpool were also 'willing to pass up on' deals for the likes of Leicester City's Youri Tielemans, Leeds United anchor-man Kalvin Phillips and former Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer. According to National News Sport, the Reds could have signed those players but the club rejected the offers they received for the trio, all of which they considered relatively "easy" to complete.
The reason why the Reds reportedly decided to turn down those offers is because they do not want to sign new players who will start out at the higher end of the wage bill. Among the club's top earners at this moment in time is Thiago Alcantara, with the Spaniard in the midst of his first contract at Anfield.

There will be no stopgaps brought in if these game-changing signings cannot be secured, either, which is another factor behind Liverpool's choice not to sign Tielemans, Phillips or Bissouma. The Reds will now stick with the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for 2022/23.
Tielemans has been linked with a move away from Leicester City this summer with his contract running out this time next year. It is claimed Arsenal are still interested in the Belgium international, although Liverpool were frontrunners, at one point, to sign the player.
Meanwhile, Phillips is a target for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain after he helped England to the Euro 2020 final before he helped keep Leeds United in the Premier League. Bissouma, on the other hand, has just completed a £25m move to Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
