Why Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool vs Tottenham dig will get proper Antonio Conte response on Tuesday

Jurgen Klopp's comments about Tottenham are going to receive a slightly delayed response from Antonio Conte this week.

The Liverpool manager was less than complimentary about Spurs' game plan as they held the Reds to a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening. When asked if Tottenham's bodies on the line style of defending had impressed him, Klopp dismissed it, stating: "I'm sorry I'm the wrong person for that, I don't like this kind of football, but that's my personal problem. I think they're world-class and I think they should do more for the game.

"I think the game against Liverpool they had 36% or 38% possession, but it's my problem. I cannot coach it. So that's why I cannot do it. So yes, world-class players block all the balls, really difficult. Atletico Madrid is doing it. Fine, they won whatever. Fine, absolutely fine. I just can't. I respect everything they do, but it's not me."

In the latest episode of our Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, as our Spurs correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest analysed the match, Alasdair explained exactly why you did not hear a response from Conte to Klopp's sentiments after Saturday's match.

Tuesday's press conference at Hotspur Way ahead of the north London derby against Arsenal on Thursday night is set to give the Italian the chance to really make his thoughts known, having had a few days to stew on the comments.

Alasdair and Rob also gave their opinions on Klopp's words and the performances of the Tottenham players, in particular the back three and Conte's wing-backs Emerson Royal and Ryan Sessegnon.
